Wor Hyem 1892 is a fan ran supporters group aiming to improve the atmosphere at St James Park. Geordies are famous for their away support and St James Park used to be a fortress, but in recent seasons the home support has gotten less vocal. We want to bring back the home voice which we believe will improve our home form.

newcastle v barnsley

Newcastle v Barnsley

By Chris / Andy    06/05/17

Tomorrow's match against Barnsley marks the end of the season, it's a sellout at St James Park, we've secured promotion and can still claim the title from Brighton, Sunderland have been relegated and Boro look set to go down too. We've smashed our away win record, Dwight Gayle has the most goals in a season since Shearer and Gallowgate Flags will be back in full force - the atmosphere should be electric!

Wor Hyem 1892 is fully backing Gallowgate Flag's appeal to all fans attending tomorrow's fixture to wear your black and white with pride, bring your scarves, flags and anything toon related to make St James a sea of black and white. Get to the match early, create a buzz in the ground, sing loud, sing proud.

45 games gone. 1 to go. And potentially the most important. A final big push to hopefully be promoted as champions! We have turned up in our thousands home and away. Averaging 50,000+ at home, and with a sell out crowd expected for Sunday's game against Barnsley, we need YOUR support. Flags, scarves, tops, jackets and jumpers, anything black and white to make St James Park look the most intimidating it's looked all season!

We need your voice most importantly. We have our best manager since the late great Sir Bobby Robson, and the club appears to moving in one direction: UP! So if you hear a song being sung, clap along, sing along or just go crazy! Rafa doesn't HAVE to stay, it is up to us to MAKE him stay! Show him the love we have all season and let's really make our atmosphere something special! Let's prove we are the best supporters in the land and bring the League home!

Wor Catch Up (23-04-17)

By Chris    23/04/17

What a week it's been, with a low start to the week for us Geordies, it had to be all up from there, right? Well after the last couple of days of results, I think that’s a good summary. Stockdale is a geordie? Fulhamcastle United? We've seen some positive results which keep both our title hopes and our automatic promotion hopes alive - cruel or kind?

The purpose of these articles (which should come weekly) are to go over some key atmosphere news you may have missed throughout the week. See it as a one stop shop for your Newcastle United Atmosphere news.

Ipswich Town

Thank you to all of our fans who travelled down to Ipswich and kept up our famous away atmosphere, the result may not have been the one we wanted, but as I listened to the match at home, I kept hearing one thing - our fans.

We released three testimonials this week written by Ryan, Liam and Amy - all of whom are members of our movement and wanted to share what the toon means to them and their opinions on the atmosphere at St James Park. We urge everyone to give them all a read and #beinspired.

Away Supporters

As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle United have presented the FA with reports that conclude moving the away supporters pitch-side at St James Park would violate health and safety practices put in place by the club which are supported by the local authorities. Newcastle United are aiming to keep the away supporters 14 flights up in top level Leazes where they currently reside.

Where do you stand when it comes to Away Supporters at St James Park? Should they remain up with the God’s or should they be moved pitch-side to give a more even playing field? Should they remain where they are to keep St James Park a fortress built with strong Geordie walls or would the away fans force an increase in passionate singing from the currently quiet sections of the ground? Send us a message on social media or through our contact us form on the website and let us know your opinions.

Preston Match

Tomorrow see’s NUFC play Preston at home, unbelievably there are still some tickets left for home supporters so if you haven’t grabbed your tickets yet or you know some friends/family that might want to go, contact the box office as soon as possible. The Box Office is open until 4pm today (Sunday).

It’s truly going to be an exciting match tomorrow with the possibility of Newcastle United securing promotion. Leeds had the best atmosphere we’d seen all season at home and everyone here at Wor Hyem 1892 plead to anyone going tomorrow night to keep up the momentum and passion. NUFC share our vision and have released an article which you can read below.

Fan group aims for another electric atmosphere

What can you do?

I’d like to end this post off with a quick thank you to everyone who has signed up so far, we have well over 1000 signups now which is amazing in itself. We want to keep growing the movement and become a strong voice for Geordies everywhere, we want to be at the forefront of fan opinion. Please continue to share our social media pages with your friends and encourage them to fill out our quick signup form on the front page of our website. The more sign ups we get, the better chance we have of getting a singing section implemented at St James Park.

Thank you for reading.

Blaydon Races Fan Version

By Ed    01/04/17

The club are motoring on with a plan to record their own version of Blaydon Races for use before matches, one that sounds more authentic.

It's not meant to be a cheesy, FA Cup final-style club singalong, far from it. The aim is to create something of a tribal call to arms ahead of matches, with a symbolic Tyneside song at its heart and sung by the fans!

The Wor Hyem movement have been asked by the club to reach out to its wider membership to see who would be interested in getting involved in something truly historic in terms of helping bring a better atmosphere to home games. This is a step in the right direction on our journey and we are delighted to be taking part along with Gallowgate Flags!

With that in mind, we're looking for up to 60 fans to come along to a mic'd up room before the Burton game to have a beer and have some singing recorded. The aim to have this ready to play before the Leeds match!

Time: 5:30pm (should be an hour absolute max)

Date: Wednesday 5th April (before Burton home match)
